MDINA GLASS
Another big name in the glass world. Started by two British glassmakers enticed by the the zero tax policy of the newly created Maltese govt. they moved across the ocean and opened a glass factory. They taught locals how to make glass, brought Venetian masters to Malta to teach ancient techniques and colour mixing. Eventually they broke up, now the factory is in the hand of their talented apprentice that made it into a global name. Who says glass history is boring!
Mdina colouring is similar to colours found in marine scenes. The company made numerous designs of vases and bottles most commonly in two colour schemes, turquoise with amber streaks, and brown glass with green and yellow streaks.
