Greg Hamilton completed an Associate Diploma of Ceramic Design at Chisholm Institute of Technology in 1983, and then managed the Institute's clay-preparation plant, and worked for a kiln manufacturer, before establishing Next Wave Ceramics in 1985. Working full-time as a studio potter, he made one-off high-fired porcelain pieces incorporating bold and colourful designs aimed to appeal to interior designers and architects. He has an entry in the 1990 potters' directory, at which time he was based in Somerville, Victoria. His work is signed with an impressed 'GH' and 'Next Wave Ceramics' and may also have a painted signature.
