César Bugarini is a ceramic artist from Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico, a village internationally known for its handcrafted pottery. He is part of the Mata Ortiz pottery movement inspired by the ancient Casas Grandes (Paquimé) ceramic traditions and revitalized in the late 20th century by master potter Juan Quezada.
Bugarini creates hand-built vessels using traditional techniques such as coil construction, burnishing, and outdoor firing. His work is known for its finely detailed geometric designs, carved surfaces, and highly polished finishes. Each piece is individually made and reflects the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the Mata Ortiz pottery tradition.
