MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2025

Known as the best design fair in the world. It’s a rite of passage for any design lover to go and learn about the latest trends in design, materials, trends etc. We deal mainly vintage and antique but it is absolutely very important that we stay up to date with trends and be well verse in pairing the new with old. We do fitout projects, styling photoshoots, events and props, the fair is also a gateway to meet other incredible creatives, build design networks and learn and educate ourselves to improve our business. Also who can say no to Milan, it is one of the most underrated European city compared to Paris and London, but in our opinion has a lot more charm and character if you spend more time there.

SCANDINAVIA 2025

DENMARK

We left Milan Design Week and went straight to Holmegaard, Denmark to visit the Holmegaard glass museum to pay homage to one of the best glass brand, factory and museum in the world. We were also here to source vintage Holmegaard deadstock and collectible items from many dealers and antique shops. We left Holmegaard with about 300 items to be shipped to Australia by our dealers home for us. We expect the goods to arrive around July 2025. At the time of this sourcing trip the Australian dollar was about half the value of the krone and shipping costs from anywhere in Scandinavia to Australia was ridiculous but we’d rather have the best stock than not so we copped a rather painful and expensive sourcing trip ever.

SWEDEN

We crossed the channel by train from Copenhagen to Vaxjo, Sweden to start our drive through the Glass Kingdom Trail known as GLASKERIT. Vaxjo was unbelievable, a small regional Swedish town but full of glass museums and glass history. It was a great start of our drive deep into the Swedish forests.
We used Kosta as a base to explore the Glasriket region. We arrived at the Kosta Boda Hotel in Kosta, Sweden. It was once in a life time experience and a hotel stay we will never forget. The whole Kosta Boda village included a hotel, a factory, a flag ship store, an outlet and a museum. We were invited to fine dine in their famous restaurant called 1742, the year the glass factory opened. For the rest of the week everyday we visited several factories and museums in the glass kingdom. Driving through the forests we saw deer, bisons, wild boars, incredible trees and Swedish ground covered moss. Spring just began and there were spring blossoms everywhere and my oh my what a trip. All in all we visited about 15 odd factories and museums in one week.

FINLAND

We landed in Helsinki from Oslo and picked up our rental to start our Finnish glass trails.
First stop was the Iittala Village in the town of Iittala, 1 hour drive from Helsinki, it was a real dream come true for any glass collector to be there. It’s the birth place of modern glass, the home of the most iconic glass products ever produced and the most famous glass superstars who worked and created modern glass design.
From Iittala we drove up north towards Riihimaki and Nuutarjavi to visit some of the oldest Finnish glass factories and museums  in Finland. Finland was much colder than Sweden, even in Spring it was like the coldest days in Sydney. But it was worth the trip, we sourced some amazing and rare Iittala Alvar Aalto items, rare Helena Tyrell and 50s to 70s Finnish glass pieces that are collectible quality.

JAPAN 2025

HEIWAJIMA Antique Fair

We attend this antique fair every year in Tokyo. We come here to buy some of the best Art Deco glass in the world and the reason for this is because Japanese glass collectors are crazy for French Art Deco glass, the pieces there are in amazing condition, rare and collectible. The prices are very high but rightly so. We also go to Japan biannual to do jewelry sourcing. We buy antique silver and vintage designer goods in Tokyo and Kyoto as well as Japanese ceramics and pottery. It is one of our favorite sourcing destination.
